Levels is bringing continuous glucose monitors (CGM's) to the masses. That's right, CGMs are no longer just for diabetic patients, and that's in large part due to our shifting understanding of metabolic health and its root cause in several chronic diseases.

A continuous glucose monitor nearly-continuously monitors your blood sugar level (technically your interstitial glucose level which is an approximation) allowing you to see blood glucose variations throughout the day. These insights allow us to make changes to our behavior to improve performance and metabolic fitness.

Here are 20 specific things I've learned to improve my glucose levels: 1. Start the Day Off Right. Some people have an easier time eating pastas and breads in the Levels supports the FreeStyle Libre CGM, which measures glucose levels every minute and stores readings in 15-minute intervals. The device is factory calibrated so that a blood sample is not needed. FreeStyle Libre sensors store the past eight hours of glucose information and need to be scanned at least three times a day to prevent data loss. CGM systems track glucose levels, every few minutes, 24/7 through a tiny sensor inserted under your skin, either on your abdomen or arm using an automatic inserter. The sensor measures your interstitial glucose level, which is the glucose found in the fluid between the cell. Recent advances in continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) technology allow you to track your glucose levels over a 24-hour period and gain insight into deeper trends associated with health, such as glycemic variability, a measure of the up-and-down swings in glucose throughout the day. However, there are no standardized, universally accepted

A CGM is a small wearable device that tracks your blood sugar levels in real-time throughout the day and night. Instead of pricking your finger, all you have to do is look at your Smartphone. Prior to CGM, the gold standard of care for diabetic patients was a blood glucose finger stick which essentially provided a single time-point snapshot of glucose levels. Now, with CGM, we have essentially a continuous video of blood sugar activity, with dozens of data points throughout the day. The first CGM was approved in 1999 and had very Abbott's newest CGM, the FreeStyle Libre 2, was released in 2020 and is an integrated continuous glucose monitoring (iCGM) system for adults and children ages 4 and older with diabetes.
